Membership Qualifications
If you own a Rebel, Republic, Naboo, or other ‘good guy’ costume from the Star Wars saga and would like to enlist, just follow the steps below. For a more detailed explanation of our mission, please see Article I of our Club Charter.
Step One: Do you qualify for membership?
  • Are you at least 18 years of age, 19 if you live in the state of Alabama? Due to the informal nature of this club we cannot accept minors as members. For more information, please read through our No Minors Policy FAQ.
  • Do you own a professional-grade Star Wars costume? Costumes can be Rebel Alliance, Old or New Republic, Jedi Order, the Naboo, Smugglers, Creatures, Droids, and any other ‘good guy’ characters. Those costumes affiliated with the Dark Side, the Empire, or the Sith should enlist with our sister clubs, The 501st LegionMando Mercs Costume ClubThe Dark Empire, or the Saber Guild.

Individuals under the age of 18 are encouraged to join the Galactic Academy until they are of age to become a Rebel Legion member. For a more detailed explanation of our membership requirements, please read through Article II and Article VII of our Club Charter.

Step Two: Prepare your costume pictures

When you fill out and submit the membership application, you are required to include photos that show all parts of the costume. The photos must be of you wearing your costume. You may provide website addresses where your photos can be found online, but you must attach the photo you wish to use as your main photo to the membership application itself.

Legion Membership Photo Guidelines
  • Take your picture against a plain background in a well-lit area.
  • Make sure you are close to a wall if you use a flash
  • Make sure most of your costume is visible. If all we can see is your Jedi robe, we will need additional photos to make sure you have a complete costume.
  • Take several photos and choose the best one

Your photo will be cut out from the background placed within a Legion frame and posted on the website along with your costume information. We only host one photo for costume. If you want multiple photos of a costume, you will need to host them yourself and post links to them in your costume profile.

If you are a Jedi costumer, please refrain from painting your lightsaber blade on the photo. We will have to do this anyway since we remove your image from the photo, and that includes your saber if it spills onto the background.

Step Three: Fill out the Membership Application

To create an account, begin by registering in our forums. Immediately after submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation e-mail with your login information. Once you have this e-mail you can log in at this website and start posting on the Legion forums. You will not be able to access members-only features until your membership is approved. Once your forum account has been created, click on “Register a Costume and Upgrade to Rebel Legion Membership,” found in the Forum and Costume Controls area of the forums.

First, select your Rebel Legion base or outpost. If you do not live in an area currently covered by a base or outpost, please select “Outer Rim.” Please be sure you select the right location because you will sometimes be sent base-specific emails from your commanding officer or the Rebel Legion Council.

Once you’ve selected your base, you will then have to enter your costume information. If you’re not sure about what category your costume falls in, please review our standards again. NOTE: Jedi that are any color other than earth tones/ browns should apply as a New Republic Jedi unless they are portraying a specific character from the Prequel/ KOTOR era.

For character name, please only put a face character name in the field if your costume is worn by that face character. In other words, don’t call yourself Han Solo if you’re wearing an X-Wing pilot costume.

Once you’ve completed filling out the profile area, you will have to upload your costume picture(s). Please make sure you’ve followed the photo guidelines for the picture you’ve uploaded, or have included other photos that display the entire costume in the additional pictures area. Please note that we only store one photo for you in our database, and all other photos should be uploaded to some other photo-sharing website such as Imgur, Picassa, or Flickr.

Once you’ve completed the application process, click on the  Submit application button.

If you have any questions about the process, please email [email protected].

For more information, please read through our Privacy Policy.

Step Four: Wait for communication from Legion Enlistment

You should receive a response from Enlistment within two weeks of submitting your application. If you do not hear from anyone after two weeks, please e-mail us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Once your membership is approved you will receive an e-mail confirmation welcoming you to the club. Included in this message will be some information about your local Base or Outpost. The officers of your local Base or Outpost will be contacted when your membership is approved. Also included in the e-mail will be a copy of our Club Charter. It is essential that all new members read through this document, as it defines what we do and how we do it.

If you are not approved for membership, you will receive an e-mail explaining why. We are more than happy to discuss our decision in a mature and civil manner, and we are always willing to help you get the materials and resources you need to make your costume acceptable for membership.
When someone’s application is denied, the information that was submitted is not kept on file and is deleted from the database in order to conserve disk space on our website. However, you will still be able to login and post on the forums. If you choose to re-apply, you will need to fill out the application again since we will no longer have your application on file.

Step Five: Get Involved!

The officers of your local Base or Outpost as well as your fellow members will be able to let you know how to find out about local events so you can get out there and have some fun! It’s best to regularly check your base’s forum and Events Calendar. You can choose to be notified of local events information via e-mail. Many bases also have their own Yahoo! Groups or websites. Get out there and introduce yourself to your fellow members, get to know your CO and before long you’ll wonder how you lived without all this excitement.
