Hi, I'm sure I saw it sometime ago in this forum but I can't find it anymore...
Could someone tell me which pattern is used as a base to make the officer's tunic and pants? It's the last thing I need to make it. Thanks.

The tunic is actually very similar to the Endor Trooper vest (minus padded shoulder, pockets and bottom strip); it's just sewn up the front instead of being open.

Thanks Donna, I think that is what I saw in the Rebel Trooper section. Got the tutorial now. I guess you have an incoming PM. Wink

Yes...
it is...

I am working on adapting the Endor pattern now for Thomas "Crix" Turner from Nar Shaddaa Base..

here it is so far..

I used the Endor Commando vest pattern...
made the pieces 1 foot longer for our Crix
made the front neckline higher
and put the pockets on the cap sleeves...

So far...it seems to be going ok...

I think that for closing up the front, I do (for now) plan to use a continous strip of Velcro....

The fabric is tan wool crepe...
I had enough left of this fabric from a Jedi tunic I did for myself...

Thank you Phyllis for those info. The strip of velcro for the front seems a great idea!
If anyone else have tips for this, please do share! Very Happy

Here is a kinda step by step so far....I do intend to turn it into a tutorial at some point and post it at the Endor Bunker...

Lay Endor Commando front and back pattern adding a foot (in this case)

As noted...
For Crix...the collar in front comes up higher than the vest for the Commando...

The cap sleeve pocket dimensions that I chose..

For the pockets...
the flap was two layers of fabric
and the pocket itself was one layer with interfacing..

For the cap sleeve....I cut two layers of fabric for each sleeve and utilized interfacing on one cap for each sleeve...

Then sewed the pockets on (sew the top hem of the pocket first and press the sides and bottoms in)

sew pocket to sleeve (I straigtened out the pocket flap before I sewed them on....the wool crepe seems to get a bit "wonky")

For the neck lining and front yoke...had to make the yoke pieces longer...obviously...sewed the fronts to the neck lining...pressed and sewed the outer hem under ....

then sewed the fronts to the back at the top of the sleeve..

sewed in the first capped sleeve (still have to put the other in...lol...just wanted to see if it all lined up)

then started to sew in the neck facing and front yoke...taking care to add the velcro to the one side before you sew that side down the front...
it is just easier to do that before the yoke is attached..

Next was to clean up the armholes. Utilizing a strip of the wool fabric that was 2" wide and long enough to go around the bottom of the armhole from the front of the sleeve cap to the back....
I pressed the piece in half and sewed it with the raw edge of the fabric strip to the raw edge of the armhole on the OUTSIDE of the armhole..

After sewing a piece on each armhole, I pressed it to the inside and then stitched it in place.

Then I hemmed it on the bottom..

This is it done...

In looking at the completed piece, I am unsure if the front collar is raised high enough.

Where it is hanging low on the hangar, I think there still might be too much curve to the front of the jacket.

I don't have a S/M pattern. I just adjust the L/XL as needed.

I'll get one out to you for free if you promise to digitize it so people can download the vest pattern. Very Happy

I don't know that it can be digitized...but I will certainly check at the place that makes the HUGE xerox copies...

Or....if that can't be accomplished at the USP (formerly Kinkos) locations...
at least when I have the full sheet...
if you want to start just referring anyone looking for the pattern to me...then that will at least free you up from doing it all the time.

Wink

and bummer of all bummers...
my sewing machine went wonky this morning..

Mad

Don't you love it when our machines decide to "die" right in the middle of a project. Rolling Eyes

Your RotJ Officer looks fantastic, Phyllis! Great job. Very Happy

I wasn't thinking of digitizing the entire sheet, but rather the cut out pieces.

And don't go to Kinkos/Fed Ex, they more than doubled the price for me to copy to large sheet so I only go to Staples for copies.

I finished it up and posted above in the step by step...

however...
I do still have one concern about my "rendition"..and that is the neckline in front..

on the hanger....it appears to be still too "scooped" even though I took a lot of that scoop/curve out of the front.

It is on the hanging down in the front on the hangar...so the neckline will indeed come up when worn...I am just not sure if will be enough...

well...
when Tom tries it on...we will see...

What did you do/use for the pants?

When Tom comes to pick up the jacket, I will be sure to get some photos of him in it...
right now he is out looking for a proper shirt...which should not be too hard...
and I have also sent him with a swatch of the fabric to find some pants...

When Tom asked me about this project, I first looked over what little there is "out there" on this character...
most of the photos etc only give good views of him from the waist up and reveal little of the pants...
where the pants are obviously about the same color, I could not determine if they were actually the same fabric...

so the first person I went to in order to ask what they did was a member that had already done this costume..
I pm'd Tigerantilles:

http://www.rebellegion.com/forum/costume.php?mode=view&c=2529

Tigerantilles did state that he started with just a pair of Dockers and went to find fabric that was close to his pants...

For Tom...we kinda worked in the reverse direction. I had enough wool crepe fabric to make the jacket....
so he will be out finding pants to match the jacket color.

He did let me know that he found what he thinks would be a good pair...

So....
When we get all of the pieces together...
I will take some photos...

we shall see..

now its just a matter of time for me to get over to Phyllis's house Laughing

I found a shirt I think will work..

only thing I am waiting on is the Pips for the colar..
I ordered them from shadowdale.

I am looking forward to this..

looks great....is there any chance you still have the swatch to match the colour...if you do could I please use it as I have been tryingto find the correct colour but if I had a swatch it may be easier.
