Thanks for the pics Erica. I think you're right about the buns being too small. I'm surprised because they look much larger in the auction picture. I look forward to seeing the pics after you reshape them!

Yeah the auction pics were deceiving. I would say to get some cheap hair extensions to add to the wig and make the buns bigger...that is how the wig I have was made...used additional hair to make the buns bigger. Glad it seems like a cheap starting point. Amadalia

I would agree, the buns look too small. If the hair is tightly twisted, you may be able to rework it, make the twists more loose and add volume to the buns that way. I was able to greatly improve the look of a rubies wig by doing just that.

I only use the rubies for emergencies now, since I prefer using my bun hairpieces instead. But it's a great backup.

yea, if the buns could be reworked then that looks like it could work out really well, the color looks really good, and if it needs it, adding to the buns to widen them would be really easy.

....when I looked at it my first thought, and don't laugh, but I thought that maybe that wig could double as a Princess Zespa wig.

New pics of the restyled buns.

This took me about 5 minutes, and I am happy with them. I will redo them to get them the same size, but I think this wig is a go!

I like that the wig goes down quite far in the back, that's where I have big problems covering my own hair atm.

you know what I found the other day. I found Leia earmuffs. if they match your hair color you can't even tell they're on they're awsome it works cause i have really short hair. (they sell them at spirithalloween.com)

I'm not an LCJ, but If those buns are the same ones that I saw in stores recently I don't know if they would be RL approved Sad

If you are talking about these: http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/star-wars-princess-leia-headband/

No they are not acceptable as the buns are not large enough and they generally do not match most people's hair. The other issue is that you would have to find a way to hide the headband as Leia has no visible headband like you see in those pics. A full wig is best if you have short hair.

Has anyone tried the "sock bun" method. I found this on youtube, and I'm going to give it a try.

The sock method is pretty smart, and it reminded me of a neat little tool I've used in the past that might work better for those with very long or thick hair. It works on the same principle as the sock, but has a little hook at each end to securely lock in place. I've seen them at several discount stores and the Claire's/Icing type stores in the mall usually carry them.

That looks a lot more simple! I'll have to keep an eye out for those at the mall.

I have something similar that uses a textured silicon to grip your hair with tension and does the same thing - it is more flexible and so can be used with other ones for crazy shapes and just snaps together at the ends (when using more than one together for figure 8 and the like you need to make sure you put the right ends together - male vs female - or it won't connect) They can hold a lot of weight and hold up to alot of movement - and can be snapped up or down without changing the look. I got it at CVS I believe - just for another option if you can't find that one - I think its called a "Bun Genie"
