Fort Campbell Volunteer of the Year Ceremony

On April 17, 2012 members of Corellian Base and The 501st Legion’s MidSouth Garrison came together to support a great event, the 2012 Fort Campbell Volunteer of the Year Award Ceremony. The ceremony takes place at the Cole Park Commons, Fort Campbell Kentucky. The 2-hour ceremony recognizes several volunteers for their contribution to the Fort Campbell community, and the theme for this year was the “Force behind the Force”. The nights activities included mingling with soldiers and guests, taking photos, and meeting the base Deputy Commander. Also, there was a ‘Dress the Trooper’ contest and much to the joy and surprise of many, the Rebel’s finished dressing the Stormtrooper before the Imperials could! We were honored to able to support these real life heroes. Live Long … and May the Force Be With You!

By RL Member Krash Over the past few months, you may have watched a series of YouTube videos posted by William Shatner (Captain James T. Kirk) and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) where they debated the merits of Star Trek vs Star Wars – an intergalactic war of words fans on both sides have waged at local sci-fi conventions and online forums for years.  It wasn’t until Star Trek icon and Star Wars alumni George Takei called on fans of both franchises to set aside their differences and enjoy what they have in common that fans began to wonder if there could in fact be peace in the galaxy. Recently, members of Spanish Base met with Club Star Trek Cochrane Madrid to do just that!  They met at a comic book store where they shared some laughs, exchanged lightsabers and tricorders, and talked about their mutual love for “a galaxy far, far away” in “the final frontier.” They watched “Landing at Point Rain” from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and “The Andorian Incident” from Star Trek: Enterprise. While Isma (Spanish Base RO and Temple Master) confessed to having never watched an episode of Star Trek, he admits that watching the show with Trekkies provided plenty of laughs with some unique commentaries.   Everyone had a great time! “It’s rare to see a Star Trek fan with a lightsaber, and we did it.” – Isma Report Content Issue: * Blank Page Invalid Contents Broken Links Other Your Name: * Details: * Submit...

Mission Report: Year of the Krayt Dragon

By RL Member Krash Recently, members of Hong Kong Outpost helped ring in the Chinese New Year by marching in the Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade.  Hong Kong enjoys a reputation for the most vibrant Chinese New Year celebrations.  The streets of Hong Kong were aglow with lightsabers as Jedi Knights and Senator Amidala marched alongside Darth Vader and the Hong Kong 501st. As a result, the Hong Kong Tourism Board donated HKD 10,000 (About $1,300 USD) to Children Cancer Foundation in the name of Hong Kong Outpost and Hong Kong 501st. Check out this YouTube video of Hong Kong Outpost marching in the parade. Report Content Issue: * Blank Page Invalid Contents Broken Links Other Your Name: * Details: * Submit...

Mission Report: World of Wheels

By RL Member Orion Knight-Star Recently, members of the Corellian Base joined the Mos Nooga Squad/Midsouth Garrison to invade the World of Wheels (Jan. 6-8, 2012) at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tenn.  World of Wheels is considered one of the best custom car shows in the country.  World of Wheels features a wide variety of custom cars, trucks, motorcycles as well as restored and antique vehicles. Since this was the first year trooping this event, we were not certain the type of reaction to expect.  Thankfully, our efforts were rewarded as the public was elated to meet so many of their favorite characters from the Star Wars universe. Good times were held by all and I am sure we will be invited back again for next year.  Corellian Base would like to thank Mos Nooga Squad, and their leader Angie Punch, for making everyone feel welcome and for a successful troop.
