Generic Wookiee

Generic Wookiee

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION A race of towering, hairy bipeds, the Wookiees were one of the most recognizable species in the galaxy. They were renowned for their great strength, their intelligence, their loyalty and their short temper.  Due to their appearance, they were sometimes referred to as “walking carpets”.  (Source Wookieepedia) REQUIRED ITEMS: 1. Complete hair suit using natural or synthetic fibers. Hair should be natural colors such as brown, blond, auburn, black, grey, or white. Hair should average at least 6 inches or longer, but 8-10 inch long hair is preferred. Complete coverage is required; no bald spots or exposed skin/undersuit. 2. Faux fur is not allowed unless hair extensions have been added. No yarn or shag carpet Wookiees. The hair must maintain a consistent quality/type throughout the suit. 3. Dark brown, gray, or black gloves should be worn. There should be enough overlap between the gloves and the wrists of the hair suit that no skin is exposed. Gloves may be made of leather, vinyl, cloth, or rubber. 4. When worn, the feet must be completely covered with hair except for the bottom and the toes. The toes and toenails/claws must be visible. 5. The mask must completely cover the head and neck, without completely obscuring the shape of the shoulders. The eyes, a smooth black nose, and a large jaw/muzzle should all be clearly visible. A slight mustache like feature should be present as well. 6. The mask hair should be smooth and well groomed, not bushy, so that the mask’s shape and structure are clear. Beards, mustaches, dreadlocks and other features are encouraged. 7. Static masks should not be frozen in a fully opened position. All static mouths should be closed. 8. Although a functioning jaw and/or lip snarl is not required, the skin and lips of any mechanical masks should appear as one piece, rather than a separated jaw and and face. This refers only to the mask’s outward appearance, not the underskull. Costumers should be aware that mechanical jaws and lips are complex projects requiring purpose-built components using special materials. They cannot simply be added to an existing latex rubber mask. Consult the costuming resources and fellow Wookiee costumers for advice on this project. FORMAL REQUIREMENTS: For formal status, you must be at least 7 feet tall while in costume. Lifts, stilts, and other height-enhancing footwear can achieve this. Prequel Trilogy Tusken Raider – Male

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION Tusken Raiders, less formally referred to as Sand People or simply as Tuskens, were a culture of nomadic, primitive sentients indigenous to Tatooine, where they were often hostile to local settlers. The term Sand People was given to them due to their existence in the desert, and was in use from at least around 4000 BBY; but the more formal name of Tusken Raiders was acquired much later, due to a period of concerted attacks on the settlement at Fort Tusken in 98-95 BBY. Although this name is often used as a common term for the race, it actually refers only to the participants of the attack on the settlement. Specialists studying the past of the Tusken Raiders also used the term Ghorfa to denote an earlier sedentary phase of their culture, and lastly Kumumgah, for the earliest stratum of sentient civilization on the planet, believed by some to represent a common ancestry shared by the Ghorfa and the Jawas. In the culture of the Tuskens, to expose any part of the flesh was forbidden and seen as a disgrace. (Source: Wookiepedia) REQUIRED ITEMS 1. Fully wrapped helmet/head similar to one as seen in Episodes I and II: must include cloth wraps (duck cloth, muslin or similar fabric should be used), leather/simulated leather mouth-wraps, 2 tapered/straight eye-stalks with 2 slits cut into the underside of each, 4 head-spikes, 2 blood-spitters, 1 silver nose-piece (tooth) with at least 2 vertical slots, screened lenses so as not to see the eyes and mouth of the wearer. 2. Fabric robe of similar color, texture, pattern to those seen in Episodes I and II. 3. Fabric neck wrap of similar color, texture, and pattern as ones seen in Episodes I, and II. 3. Fabric waist wrap of similar color, texture, and pattern of those seen in Episodes I and II. 4. Sand-colored cloth/leather gloves. 5. Cloth arm wraps covering the arms until concealed within robe(s). 6. Boots/shoes covered with cloth wrappings. (If shoes then cloth leg wraps covering the legs until concealed within robe.) 7. At least one bandolier of similar type/design as seen in Episodes I and II across the chest/waist. 8. Gaffi stick OR Tusken Rifle either/both of similar type/design as found in Episodes I and II. All elements of this costume MUST BE weathered/tattered to simulate living in a barren, desert environment.
