Rebel Legion - Costuming Standards

This page is a listing of the minimum requirements for specific Rebel Legion costumes. Although this list is extensive, it is meant to cover the more common costumes and is not meant to be a complete list of all possible costumes that may be admitted by the Rebel Legion. If your costume is not listed here, you should consult the Legion Membership Officer (LMO) to see if it will be admissable. Changes or additions to this list may be submitted here. For easier reference, the master list has been broken down by character.

Rebel Pilots

X-Wing Pilot (Episode IV: A New Hope & Episode VI: Return of the Jedi) & Y-Wing Pilot (Episode IV: A New Hope)
Required Items:

Orange flight suit with altered collar
Mid Calf Black boots (or suitable substitute)
Leg flares
Grey ejection harness
Grey web belt
White flak vest with ribbing
Grey chest box with grey hose OR aviation hose and appropriate decoration (buttons, pin stripes etc.)
Code cylinders in left shoulder pocket

Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

X-Wing helmet with Star Wars-style decoration.
Mini-Flares on belt and Comm Pad
Black gauntlets
Leg pockets on coveralls

Formal Requirements:

Grey and black Chest Box. (2 pieces, upper one rectangular, bottom one oval-ish With white hose attached to it, and then attached to either flight suit or vest on side.

A-Wing Pilot

White ejection harness
White web belt
Charcoal grey flak vest with white section on front. White section has two ribbing under the chest box.
Black chest box.
Tan spats.

Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

Black Gauntlets
Altered flight suit pockets with Velcro closures
AN-H-15 cloth helmet or replica
A-Wing hard helmet (Used with AN-H-15 cloth helmet)
White cloth "bag" under chest box with white cloth hose.
Y-Wing Helmet

B-Wing Pilot
Required Items:

Red flight suit
Black boots (or suitable substitute)
White ejection harness

Black or dark grey flak vest
Silver or light grey full chest chest box.

Formal Requirements:
You must have at least one of the following items to be accepted:

Black gauntlets
Altered flight suit pockets with Velcro closures
AN-H-15 cloth helmet or replica
Hoses hanging from chest box
X-Wing helmet acceptable

Note: For some events you may be required to have the correct helmet for your costume.
Specific Face Character pilots: Replicas of specific face characters (Wedge Antilles, for example) must have the correct helmet paint job.

Clone & Old Republic Pilots

Required Items:

Beige outer tunic that reaches the feet, scarf-style tabbards and obi sash.
Brown mock turtleneck.
Reddish brown leather belt with rectangular metal buckle with rounded corners and lightsaber hook.
Brown leather boots.
A New Hope Hero lightsaber hilt.
Leather banana-shaped belt pouch.
Brown robe with pointed hood.

Floor length tan/linen outer tunic
Dark brown inner tunic (V-necked/PT-style, not OT Obi-Wan turtleck)

Proper OT-style Jedi belt and hair style.

Mara Jade (Black Jumpsuit)
Required Items:

Black one piece form-fitting jumpsuit made from a medium-sheen material.
Stretch material should be used to allow freedom of movement.
The jumpsuit is sleeveless, and shoulder straps must be at least one and a half inches wide.
The neckline is round and should not go below the collarbone.
No collar
From 6 to 10 horizontal panels run down the legs from the front of each thigh to the inner leg seam, extending from the hips to knees.
Two rows of piping run from each shoulder down the front of the jumpsuit, bordering the thigh panels down to the knees.
The zipper must be on the back.
There should be no fasteners, openings, or decorations on the front.
Black, laceless knee high leather boots with a conservative heel.
Belt:[list=1]
Undecorated brown leather belt with floating strap which drapes down on the right side.
The floating strap must be attached to the main belt under the front buckle and at the center back.
The plain silver buckle is rectangular, and may have rounded edges.
The buckle's clasp must be hidden on the back side of the buckle.

Undecorated brown leather holster, worn assassin style on the back of the belt, or traditional style on the right thigh.

Unless local laws prohibit or strongly discourage carrying anything that looks like a firearm, one of the following blasters is required:

A square-nosed pistol

Shoulder Harness:

The straps for the shoulder harness should be brown leather cut approximately 1 inch wide.
The shoulder straps should be attached to a round silver connector located at the center back.
Silver metal clasps are located on the front of the straps, just above the armpits.

Shin and Knee Guards:

Black shin and knee guards should be made of plastic or fiberglass.
The knee guards are oval.
The shin guards are rounded and should extend from knee to ankle with black padding underneath.
The shin guards are worn over the boots and should be appropriately sized.
The shin and knee guards may be custom sculpted, or appropriately sized sport or police style shin guards may be used.

The costumer's hair or wig must be strawberry-blonde, red, or red-gold in color, and should be from the shoulders to mid-back in length.

Acceptable lightsaber hilts include those designed to match reference images from the comics or Decipher cards. A Luke Skywalker style hilt is also acceptable.[/list]Formal Requirements:
You must have at least four of the following items to be accepted:

Cape and Cape Clasp:[list=1]
Tan or brown hoodless cape, reaching to mid-thigh or knee in length.
Raw silk fabric is preferred.
The clasp is two silver triangles with patterned centers, connected together at their bases.

Gloves:

Long black motorcycle style gloves are worn without a cape or cowl.
Tan or off-white wrist length gloves are worn with the off-white cowl.
Black wrist length gloves are worn with the black cowl or the cape.

Wrist Wraps:

Black fabric wrist wraps worn in place of gloves.
Wraps must have finished edges, and should extend from the wrist to just below the elbows.
Wraps may be used to "hide" a small holdout weapon on the right forearm.

Goggles:

Brown or black aviator or motorcycle style goggles with dark lenses; or round goggles with dark or amber lenses.
Goggles may be worn wrapped around the top of the head, over the eyes, or draped around the neck.

Cowl:

The cowl can be made from off-white, tan, or black fabric.
The cowl is a piece of fabric sewn into a tube shape that can be worn draped over the shoulders or pulled up to cover the hair. It is not a tied scarf.
If the cowl is worn over the hair, goggles should be worn wrapped around the top of the head to hold the cowl in place.

Lightsaber blade must be blue, purple, or magenta.[/list]Additional Items:
These items are optional, but they can really make the costume stand out.

Green contacts if eyes are not naturally green.
Two lengths of piping that run down the back of the jumpsuit to each side of the center line, from the shoulders to the lower legs.
A long diamond shaped piece of fabric sewn on the front of the jumpsuit, connecting the thigh panels and the stomach of the jumpsuit. Must be made of the same fabric as the jumpsuit.

Kyle Katarn (Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II)
Minimum Required Items:

Light gray crew-neck undershirt
Long sleeved collarless off-white or beige pullover shirt with narrow "V" or "U" cut at the neck and black panels under arms
Light to medium brown suede/suede-type shoulder pad on right shoulder
Medium to dark brown leather or vinyl forearm bracers
Black pants
Brown wide utility belt with narrower over-belt and double buckles
Brown or black hi-boots, or low-boots with black leg spats
EITHER a pistol blaster in cross-draw holster, OR a green or yellow lightsaber

Wookiee Warrior
Required Items:

Brown, blond, black, grey, white, or red hair suit using natural or synthetic hair at least 6 inches or longer. No faux fur (unless extensions have been added), yarn, shag carpet, etc. No bald spots or exposed skin/undersuit.
Bandolier, straps, belts, and/or armor
Mask with visible nose, eye sockets, and a large muzzle. A moving mouth is not required. No store bought masks.
Wookiee feet

Rebel Royalty & Senatorial

Leia Organa (Episode IV: A New Hope, Senatorial gown)
Required Items:

White dress with high, fitted collar, open scarf-like hood, bell sleeves and slits up the sides to or just below the knee. Dress does not have shoulder seems unless raglan, and no center seem.
Belt is white leather or vinyl with slight "V" shape. It has 7 metal pieces on it, 6 matching with one larger different shape in the center front.
White leather or vinyl flat or low chunky soled boots.
Hair is parted in or near center and pulled into buns. Buns are twisted, not braided.

Required Items:

White a-line dress covered in sheer fabric
Distinctive inverted "V" shape under bust
"Wings" flowing from bust out to long draping sleeves.

The top is a long sleeved cropped turtle neck. The back is open, with long tabs wrapping from the sides meeting at the waist of the center back
Top Embellishments - The seams on the front of the top are embellished with a string of trochus shells (beads, or some other trim substitutes are acceptable). The bottom edge of the center front should have a decorative blue clip (A leaf-like shape with floral details and blue rhinestone is preferable - but not required). Ideally, the same decorative blue clips should also be placed at the back near the shoulder blades. The center back opening of the turtleneck collar should be finished with small decorative pearl buttons with an antique gold or brass metal edge. (They could also be custom fabric covered buttons).
Skirt - The floor length wrap around skirt flairs out from the knees to the hem. There is a small decorative button at the top of the wrap opening – identical to the buttons used on the back of the turtleneck.
